Welcome

FOPAS’ primary mission is to humanely house, care for, provide medical treatment for, and find permanent homes for the abandoned and stray dogs and cats from Platte, Clay and, to some extent, surrounding counties which have come under our care. The work of the organization is carried out almost exclusively by dedicated volunteers and is financed through donations and fund raising events.

Pets of the Week

FOPAS can earn a penny every time you search the Internet AND a percentage of every purchase made online can also support our efforts.  It's true!  Help FOPAS raise funds by using Goodsearch and entering Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter as the charity of choice.

Jamacia and Kingston

Jamacia and Kingston are Corgi/Jack Russell Terrier mixes . . . what a combination!! At just about 1 year they thrive on action and adventure.   This is a combination of two exuberant and lively breeds, and that is an exact description of the pair.  When Kingston is running and playing with his sister, Jamaica, in the yard  you can almost hear them laugh.   You can certainly see them both smile.  We're sure if Queen Elizabeth ever saw Kingston or his sister, Jamaica, she would abandon the pure breeds and become a devotee of the Corgi/JRT mix.

Norfolk and Raleigh

What do you get when you adopt a Maine Coon mix named Norfolk and a short-haired tri-tabby named Raleigh? Purr'fection! You know, at FOPAS we believe that everything is nicer with two and our boys are no exception. Because these best friends have been through a lot together, they have decided that's the way they would like to stay. We couldn't agree more. Described as "shy, but sweet" and "cute to watch" Norfolk & Raleigh are ready to provide double the love and double the fun!.
